Telugu Typing Test

This typing test supports the major Telugu keyboard layouts used in government exams:

1. Telugu InScript: The Unicode-standard layout mandated by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS IS 16350:2016) and the Government of India. This is the official layout for APPSC, TSPSC, and SSC Telugu typing tests. If you are preparing for Andhra Pradesh or Telangana government exams, this is the layout you must practice.

2. English (QWERTY): Standard QWERTY layout for English typing, useful for candidates who need to practice English document work common in government and central government offices.

You can switch between layouts from the settings panel before starting your test.

The APPSC (Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission) specifies the following typing speed requirements:

Telugu Typing: A minimum of 25–30 WPM with an accuracy of 90–95% or above is required for most Typist, Junior Assistant (JA), and Data Entry Operator posts.

Senior Grade Posts: Higher-level positions may require speeds of 35–40 WPM or more.

Telugu typing speed in government exams is primarily calculated using the character-based method:

Gross WPM:
Gross WPM = Total Characters Typed / 5 / Time (in minutes)

Net WPM (used in APPSC & SSC exams):
Net WPM = (Total Characters - Total Errors) / 5 / Time (in minutes)

The Telugu InScript keyboard is built into all major operating systems. Here is how to enable it:

Windows 10/11: Go to Settings → Time & Language → Language & Region → Add a language → search for "Telugu" → add it. Then switch input methods using Win + Space.

macOS: Go to System Preferences → Keyboard → Input Sources → click + → select Telugu (InScript). Switch layouts using the menu bar icon.

Ubuntu/Linux: Go to Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources → add Telugu (InScript). Switch using Super + Space.
